The seven member-countries of the IACO Board of Directors (Angola, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania) met in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, on Tuesday 26 September 2017 to prepare the 5th African coffee Symposium.
The theme for this event is Sustainable Coffee Development for the Emergence of African Coffee. It will be followed by the 57th Annual General Assembly meeting, due to take place from 06 to 08 December 2017, in Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire.
Under the chairmanship of Mr. Aly Touré, the Board of Directors examined the IACO 2017-2022 strategic plan and the progress report for the construction of the Organisation’s future Headquarters.
IACO is an intergovernmental organisation which was established in 1960 to highlight the overriding role of coffee in the socio-economic development of Africa. It is therefore an effective means of eradicating poverty.
As a founding member of IACO and the 8th African producer of coffee, Côte d’Ivoire works alongside the 24 other members of IACO to bring about a renaissance of African coffees.
