The Permanent Representation of Côte d’Ivoire to International Commodity Organizations is an external service of the Ivorian Ministry of Commerce. It acts as an interface between the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and International Commodity organisations, for the negotiation of International commodity agreements and the safeguard of Côte d’Ivoire’s economic and political interests at the level of International Commodity Organisations.
The Permanent Representation is therefore accredited to the following bodies, most of which are based in London or have strong links with sister organizations based in the UK capital:
- The International Coffee Organization
- The Inter-African Coffee Organization
- The International Cocoa Organization
- The Cocoa Producers’ Alliance (CPA)
- The International Sugar Organization
- The International Grains Council
- The International Rubber Study Group
- The Common Fund for Commodities.
Furthermore, the Permanent Representation to International Commodity Organisations facilitates contacts and partnerships between Ivorian organizations or parties and private sector entities involved in the trade or promotion of the important raw materials produced by Côte d’Ivoire. These bodies namely include the Federation of Cocoa Commerce, the European Cocoa Federation and the World Cocoa Foundation.
Finally, as the main contact point of the Common Fund for Commodities, on behalf of the Ivorian institutions, the Permanent Representation to International Commodity Organizations ensures that the agricultural sector of Côte d’Ivoire benefits from the wide array of projects funded by this international financial institution, with a view to alleviating poverty and improving the livelihoods of smallholder producers.
